Abuse of Rights, Cruelty and Malice
Canadians rights continue to be abused by the Health Care
Industry and no matter how much bad press they get it seems to be like a downhill
train out of control.
The only way to put a halt to the abuses, and vicious assaults on the elderly and their families, is to have severe penalties in place to hold the perpetrators accountable for their actions, as there is no will on their part to change the way they are doing things.
British MP Paul Burstow suggested this approach a while back, as a way to curb the use of anti-psychotic “chemical restraints” in the elderly. This only after “health care” professionals (doctors) refused to clean up their act voluntarily.
What brings this all back is the story out of Ontario where once again a doctor has decided to abuse the rights of a patient and his wife, treat without consent, and indeed against the will and legal rights of the individuals.
What is the motive for doctors and other health care “professionals” (and believe me, the word “professional” is used loosely!) to treat people in this fashion. Do they have a “god” complex, is it strictly a power trip, are they psychopathic, are they just plain evil? Or is it the fact that when they can use the “drugs” they get a kick back from the pharmaceutical companies. Use enough of the drugs and life can have a lot of extra “perks”! This in effect makes doctors “Pharmaceutical pimps”
Similar to Marilyn Nelson’s experience, a doctor also used anti-psychotic drugs on our mom when she had a stroke, also with disastrous results. But it doesn’t seem to matter if the drugs don’t produce improvement, and in FACT quite the opposite, because a few years later another doctor used the same drugs again, in spite of the history of bad reactions WHICH HE WAS WELL AWARE OF! And then , still another doctor repeated the same regimen, in spite of mom having had seizures from these drugs . And don’t you DARE question their authority on the matter! You will be belittled, chastised, and...
…Which brings us to the Public Guardian and Trustee. This is the Office that will be contacted if you should be insistent that your rights be upheld. A complaint will be made (as in our case and the story I am quoting here) by the doctor, social worker, nurse, or some health authority pencil pusher and the PGT is only too willing to take a strangers word that your rights should be taken away without ever speaking to you or having any proof or real reason at all.
In the story the PGT was going to take this poor women’s home away! But she didn’t own one. In our case before we even knew that the PGT were involved they were in the same process. They had made a search for all my mother’s assets, had a list of all the Hilda Penners in the area and had determined they had found the correct one. Searched what properties etc. she owned, and other assets.
However in our case the PGT made a very crucial mistake. My mother didn't have any assets for them to go after, but they were so hell bent on getting SOMETHING, and they went after an UNRELATED family. I am privy to this only because on a request for all FOI (freedom of information) documents from the PGT office regarding my mom, this information showed up. And this in itself was just a fluke. We were having trouble getting the FOI documents, and requested assistance from the MLA’s office. After the lawyer for the PGT LIED to the MLA’S office (NOT a smart move) that all the documents had been already sent (they hadn’t), I suppose she was in a panic to get them off and didn’t check what she was sending. Having to send them out expediently, she also didn’t have the brains to realize that there was a tracking number on the mail thus confirming that she hadn’t sent the documents when she said she had. Anyway, in the package were the documents of the search they did of another Penner families assets.
I can only imagine, given the history of the PGT, what they did with the information. Did they actually try and seize this poor fellows assets, (who was unfortunate enough to have a wife with the same name as my mom!!!!) The PGT people didn’t even know enough about my mom or the family to realize that she had been a widow for years! This couldn’t have ended well! But we will never know as all further FOI documents have been denied to us.
This is how corrupt the Office of the Public Guardian andTrustee is! In my opinion they should be dismantled. Shut down permanently and the lot of them thrown in Jail for their illegal acts, abuse of position, and the pain and suffering that THEY CAUSE to countless families! But we do have the politicians we elect to blame for allowing such an abusive office to exist!
The scars that these abuses leave are severe and permanent. All of us (and there are many) who have witnessed our loved ones being abused and have also ourselves been recipients of the abuse, will never be the same. Our loved ones in many cases (most) have passed on, many killed by the drugs, neglect and abuse. I’d like to think are in a better place, where no one can harm them again. But we are left with the horrors of what an “unjust” and evil society, can bestow on the innocent and frail, and the lengths to which they will go to wield their “power”.
Unfortunately the only solution to any of these problems lies with the political party in power. Until we elect “politicians” in this country that exhibit some integrity, morals, respect for human rights, follow and enforce the laws that are SUPPOSE to govern our society, and hold accountable all those who don’t, we are doomed to keep repeating these stories over and over and over...
